Almost Perfect RV Boondocking Spot ~ Biz’s Last Video! ~ s4e18

Whatever RV we get next, be it a diesel pusher or a toy hauler, having larger capacity for fuel, water and battery power is a must. This spot would have been perfect for me if I had more battery storing capacity. If I were to come back here to get work done I would be running the generator all day and evening just to power my laptop. If I had a larger battery bank I could charge the batteries with the Gen and then use that power storage for 5-7 hours easily. With my current setup my batteries die around 1-2 hours max. We then hit the road towards our friends in Spokane.

  • well trained dog…always interested in hearing about your maintenance issues…seems like this was an easier trip for you….on going through border..I drove a tour bus through Detroit going to Kitchner Ontario…Romanian baptist church group…going into Canada no problem ..the U.S side coming back there are negative attitudes and that was before 911…You and nomadic fanatic are my favorites..I have a Class C 26 foot..but not full-time …I am 70 years old and retired…life is good!! and youtube makes it even better..thanks for your videos…Emmitt…Covington, Ga.

    • Thanks for watching Emmitt. I plan on doing a full recap of problems/things needing to be fixed once we get to AZ. Glad to hear things are going well for you out there. Stay safe!

  • Loving seeing your cruising through my area. Hope it wasn’t windy up on the plateau. Next time you go through Wilbur, remember to say it’s name like Mr. Ed (a 60’s TV talking horse) would say. We always do that. What lake was that? May try to go next spring.

  • Chris, One of the biggest problems with charging batteries on an RV is that most onboard battery chargers, engine alternators and solar charge controllers are set to protect from overcharging rather than to charge quickly and efficiently.
Basically the charging voltage set points are way too low. It doesn’t really help to add battery capacity or solar panels unless you have one of the few charge controllers with adjustable voltage settings and an accurate battery monitoring device.
Here is a link to one of the few places you can get the information compiled in a complete and useful form & the guy doesn’t want to sell you a thing. (Sorry but Bob is rather antagonistic. If you can get past that part the info is great.) https://handybobsolar.wordpress.com/the-rv-battery-charging-puzzle-2/
